While I remain skeptical about much automobile new technology, backup cameras and dash cameras are innovations that I enthusiastically embrace. The eRapta wireless backup camera system is an impressive product that provides vivid high-resolution color images on a 7” screen, and is easy to install and use.I have installed several backup camera and dash camera systems, and the most tedious and time- consuming part is routing in cables between the rear camera and the front camera/display. Many people have professional installers do the work due to the difficulty in getting the cables tucked away neatly and hidden. The eRapta wireless camera system eliminates this cable routing chore by using wireless connectivity between the camera unit and display. The rear-mounted camera unit requires only a power connection to one of the nearby backup lights, and the cabin located display easily plugs into a 12-volt cigarette lighter socket (or can alternately be hardwired into a fuse block). Once both units are connected to power, instant backup vision appears on the display!This eRapta unit is especially conducive to installation on trailers, whether they be campers, boat trailers or toy-hauling utility trailers. Having vision behind your trailer when backing into an RV campground slot or down a boat ramp takes much of the stress out such maneuvering. Once again, the wireless connectivity makes installation easy. Just connect the camera power cable to the trailer’s taillight circuit, and backup with confidence. And with a bit of creative mounting, one camera can be moved from one trailer to another, depending on your day's planned activities.Some installations might experience poor wireless connectivity, especially those where the camera is mounted at the rear of a long tow-behind metal-clad SUV. Relocating the camera to where there’s a better line-of-sight to the tow vehicle, or using an antenna extension cable to place the antenna in a better place can alleviate this problem.My application for this camera system is somewhat “off-label”. I have a compact tractor that I use for various chores around my property and I always have difficulty using the claw grapple attachment as its opening/closing action is difficult to see from the driver’s seat. I’ve mounted the eRapta backup camera on my tractor’s grill guard and now I can see the claw grapple’s position as I’m picking up large rocks, tree stumps, logs, etc. I’m planning to install a second camera on the rear of my tractor to assist in aligning when mounting attachments onto my 3-point hitch.I’m very pleased with the quality and ruggedness of this eRapta camera system and enthusiastically rate it 5 stars.
